Meet Maria
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ experience working with individuals experiencing a range of psychological and emotional difficulties.
My training as a psychologist allows me to draw on a wide range of evidence-based psychological models such as cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic therapy, psychodynamic therapy and humanistic therapy. My approach is integrative, underpinned by a strong relational element, where the therapeutic relationship is the first step in facilitating psychological change and growth. I believe therapy should be founded on respect, empathy and an understanding that we all experience difficulties and have the potential to overcome challenges.
In addition to my clinical work, I have held senior management positions at various mental health services. In these roles, I was responsible for the leadership, development, and operational management of their psychological services.
I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), with the BPS (British Psychological Association) and the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also a member of the Spanish Official Association of Psychologists (COP Madrid). My practice complies with the ethical and professional guidelines of these organisations, and I have full DBS (CRB) Certification, professional indemnity insurance and regular clinical supervision.
Training and Experience
I completed my professional training in Psychology in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. Additionally, I have completed specialist training in addictions, eating disorders and trauma.
I have experience working both in the NHS (IAPT services) and in the private sector in in-patient addictions, eating disorders and acute mental health units at two leading mental health hospitals in London. I can work in English and Spanish.
