Online and In-Person Therapy (High Street Kensington)

Meet Rocio

I have trained as an integrative psychotherapist completing the last year of my master’s degree in existential-phenomenological psychotherapy. In my approach to therapy, I look to explore the struggles that my clients are facing, the way they are creating and living their lives and their relationships, and how the personal choices they have made are currently affecting them. In this process, my clients make sense of their lived experiences, find meaning, and elucidate what aspects of their life they want to change.

I work primarily from an existential perspective however, I use CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred approaches whenever I realise that they could be beneficial to my clients. In addition to this, I work relationally as I believe that understanding our relationship dynamics are crucial to make sense of how we relate to ourselves and others, and I place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle which facilitates change, healing, and personal growth.

My therapy orientation is suitable for working with all aspects of human experience, from broader issues, such as lack of meaning in life and relationship difficulties, to more specific issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, obsessive behaviours, and addictions.

Training and Experience

I am a highly qualified psychotherapist with extensive experience in the mental health field. My training began at a young age with a master's degree in psychology where I developed a deep understanding of the complexity of mental processes, human behaviour, and emotions. I then went on to expand my knowledge by completing a master's degree in clinical psychology where I fulfilled an honorary placement at the psychiatry department of a renowned hospital, and I received specialised training in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I moved to the UK and completed my education with a post graduate diploma in integrative psychotherapy and counselling (covering psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential approaches) and a master’s degree in existential phenomenological psychotherapy, both at Regents University London.

Throughout my career, I have worked for the charity sector (most recently for MIND, the mental health charity) and the NHS, as well as, in private practice. I have worked with a very diverse range of individuals with moderate to severe mental health difficulties such as, trauma, abuse, addictions, long term health conditions, bereavement, and grief.

I have lived and worked in several countries on 3 different continents. This experience has allowed me to connect with people from different backgrounds, ages and cultures making me appreciate cultural diversity, values, beliefs, and lifestyles with great respect. I also have a broad experience in supporting clients to explore cross-cultural differences and overcoming its challenges when moving to a new country.

I provide therapy services in both English and Spanish.

I operate a sliding scale of fees which considers your financial circumstances and capacity to pay. If you are interested in working together, please feel free to contact me to schedule a trial session. I look forward to starting working with you!
